Introduction

This site presents an overview of my panoramas, virtual tours and related projects. I will add recent work as well as selected older material every now and then.

Nineteenth century panoramas of Amsterdam and of the Battle of Waterloo

These are reprojections of pictorial explanations of a number of very large panoramas made and displayed in a.o. Amsterdam in the beginning of the 19th century. The source material are the items 010094002561, 010094002562, 010097010965, B00000024262, en 010097014165 (Battle of Waterloo) in the Stadsarchief Amsterdam,

and the 'Beknopte Beschryving der Voornaamste Gebouwen Binnen de Stad Amsteldam' of Pieter Johannes Uylenbroek (1748 - 1808) which I found in the David Rumsey Historical Map Collection.

Viktor IV - Virtual visit to the 'Berendina Fennegina'
20 December 2019

The old cargo ship 'Berendina Fennegina' became Viktor IV's home when he moved to Amsterdam in 1961. The current owner, Bert Degenaar, has restored the interior as faithfully as possible and has turned the ship into a private museum dedicated to the memory of Viktor IV.
